Description

Potassium chloride is an inorganic chemical compound with the formula KCl, occurring in the form of crystalline salt. It is characterised by its white colour, lack of odour and neutral taste. Due to its high potassium content, the product is widely used in agriculture, the food industry and animal feed as a valuable source of this element.

It is valued for its versatility, high purity and compliance with European food and feed safety standards. Its physicochemical stability and ease of storage make potassium chloride a widely used product in many industries.

Technical aspects

Potassium chloride is a white, crystalline powder or granules with no odour and a neutral taste. It is characterised by a high potassium content, low moisture content and the presence of anti-caking agents, which ensure the product’s free-flowing properties.

Parameter Value
KCl content > 98% (typically 98.2%)
Potassium oxide (K₂O) > 62% (typically 62.1%)
Potassium (K) 51.5%
Sodium (Na) 0.59%
Moisture 0.1%
Anti-caking agent (Fe(CN)₆) 100 ppm
Particle size distribution 96% < 1 mm; 5% < 0.2 mm
Bulk density 1080 – 1160 kg/m³

Application

Potassium chloride is used in the feed industry as a source of potassium, which plays an important role in animal metabolic processes. The addition of KCl improves the electrolyte balance of feed and supports the proper growth and condition of livestock.

In the food industry, KCl is used as a substitute for sodium chloride in low-sodium products. It is also used in agriculture as a mineral fertiliser providing potassium to plants, as well as in industrial processes such as the production of compound fertilisers, pharmaceuticals, infusion fluids and technical electrolytes, where high purity potassium chloride is required.

Storage

Store in original, tightly closed containers in a dry and cool place, away from direct sunlight.

Package

The product is available in 25 kg small bags and big bags, adapted for safe transport and storage.
