Description

L-valine (feed grade) is a nutritional feed additive belonging to the functional group “amino acids, their salts and analogues”, authorised for use in animal nutrition under Regulation (EC) No 1831/2003. It is an essential (exogenous) amino acid which, together with leucine and isoleucine, belongs to the group of branched-chain amino acids (BCAA).

The product is supplied as a white crystalline powder with a neutral taste and odourless character, which mixes well with other feed components.

Application

L-valine is used in the feed sector as a supplementary component in mixtures for pigs, poultry and other farm animals. Its role is to supplement the valine content of the formulation and to balance the amino acid profile of the feed against the animals’ requirements.

Valine becomes one of the limiting amino acids in low-protein diets for monogastric animals. Supplementing feed with L-valine allows the supply of branched-chain amino acids (BCAA) to be matched to requirements without over-formulating on crude protein, which is applied among others when formulating feeds with a reduced crude-protein content.

L-valine is also used in premixes and mineral-vitamin mixtures, where it serves to supplement the BCAA level in the feed composition.

Storage

The amino acid valine remains stable for at least 2 years if stored in a dry, cool and shaded place, in a tightly closed container, away from sources of heat and moisture.

The product is available in 25 kg paper bags with a PE insert, as well as in 500 kg and 800 kg big bags.
