Description

Carob powder is a natural powder obtained from the fruit of the carob tree. It is produced by cleaning, crushing, roasting and grinding the pods, followed by packaging. It has a reddish-brown colour, a slightly sweet taste and an aroma reminiscent of cocoa.

Carob is distinguished by its high dietary fibre content, low fat content and natural sweetness, making it a valued substitute for cocoa in various food products. It does not contain caffeine or any allergens listed in Annex II of the EU Regulation, making it a suitable raw material for a wide range of consumers.

Technical aspects

Carob powder has an aroma and taste similar to cocoa, slightly sweet with roasted notes. It has a fine texture, is GMO-free and allergen-free, and complies with EU food safety standards.

Carob powder is also suitable for the production of special-purpose foods, including gluten-free, caffeine-free and cocoa-free products. It can be used in spice mixes and as a decorative ingredient in confectionery.

Storage

Carob should be stored in a dry and cool place, away from direct sunlight, in its original packaging.

The product is available in 25 kg multi-layer paper bags with an inner polyethylene liner.
