Description

L-lysine monohydrochloride is a nutritional feed additive belonging to the functional group “amino acids, their salts and analogues”, authorised for use in animal nutrition under Regulation (EC) No 1831/2003. It is used as a concentrated source of L-lysine in the manufacture of premixtures and compound feed.

L-lysine is an essential amino acid that must be supplied as part of a properly formulated animal diet. The product contains at least 78% L-lysine and is supplied as a free-flowing powder or granules, ranging in colour from white to light brown.

Technical aspects

L-lysine used in animal feed is characterised by high purity and stable physicochemical parameters.

Application

L-lysine monohydrochloride is used as a nutritional feed additive in premixtures and compound feed to supplement the L-lysine content of feed formulations.

It is commonly used in feed intended for pigs and poultry, and may also be used in feed for other animal species in accordance with the applicable authorisation conditions. Lysine is one of the main limiting amino acids in cereal-based diets, and supplementing feed with L-lysine allows the amino acid supply to be matched to requirements without over-formulating on crude protein.

Storage

The product should be stored in a cool (0–30°C), dry place with a maximum humidity of 70% and good ventilation. L-lysine feed should be kept in tightly closed containers, away from light and sources of fire to prevent moisture absorption.

Package

Feed lysine is available in bulk packaging, both in small 25 kg bags and in big bags, allowing the product to be adapted to the needs of any type of feed production.
