L-threonine (feed grade) is used as a supplementary component in compound feed for farm animals. Its role is to supplement the threonine content of the formulation and to balance the amino acid profile of the feed against the animals’ requirements.
Threonine is one of the limiting amino acids in the nutrition of monogastric animals such as pigs and poultry, where its deficiency limits the utilisation of the remaining amino acids in the feed. Supplementing feed with L-threonine allows the amino acid supply to be matched to requirements without over-formulating on crude protein.
L-threonine is used in the production of complete feeds, concentrates and premixes. Due to its powder or granulate form and neutral chemical profile, it mixes well with other feed components, ensuring even distribution in the finished product.
