Formic acid is an organic chemical compound belonging to the simplest carboxylic acids. It occurs as a clear, colourless liquid with a characteristic pungent odour. It is highly soluble in water and alcohol and has high chemical reactivity, which makes it widely used in various industrial processes.

Methanic acid is valued primarily for its reducing, preservative and bacteriostatic properties. It is used in many industries as an acidity regulator, preservative or component in technological processes requiring high chemical purity.

Application

Methanoic acid is widely used in the feed industry as a preservative and acidity regulator. Thanks to its antimicrobial properties, it prevents the growth of undesirable bacteria in silage and feed, extending their shelf life and improving their quality.

Formic acid is also used in the chemical, pharmaceutical, tanning and textile industries. It is used in the production of dyes, medicines, plant protection products and as a leather treatment and preservative. It is also used in disinfectants and in processes requiring high chemical purity.

Storage

Store in original, tightly closed containers in a cool and well-ventilated place. Protect from direct sunlight, heat sources and moisture.
