Description

Citric acid monohydrate is a naturally occurring organic compound in the form of a white or almost white crystalline powder or granules. This product is obtained by sub-surface fermentation using glucose or sucrose as a carbohydrate substrate. It is characterised by a strongly acidic taste and no odour.

The acid is widely used in the food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries. Due to its acidifying, preservative and chelating properties, it is one of the most commonly used acidity regulators in food and beverage production. In addition, it has antioxidant properties and supports the stability of end products.

Technical aspects

The product has a high purity, in accordance with food standards. It is odourless, highly soluble in water and has low levels of heavy metal contamination.

Application

Monohydric citric acid is used as an acidity regulator, preservative and antioxidant in juices, beverages, fruit preserves, sweets and ready meals. It also acts as a flavour carrier and natural preservative.

In the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries, it acts as a buffer and pH stabiliser. It is also used in cleaning agents, descalers and eco-friendly detergents thanks to its chelating properties.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place in tightly closed containers, away from moisture and heat sources.

Package

The product is available in 25 kg paper bags with an inner moisture-proof insert. Bulk packaging or big bags for industrial use are also available on request.
