Potassium acesulfame is an artificial sweetener belonging to the sulphonamide group. It comes in the form of a white, crystalline powder with a neutral odour and an intensely sweet taste. It is about 200 times sweeter than sucrose and does not provide any calories, which makes it widely used as a sugar substitute in many products.
Acesulfame-K is characterised by high thermal and chemical stability, thanks to which it retains its sweetening properties even in processes requiring heat treatment. For this reason, it is used in the production of food, beverages, dietary supplements and pharmaceutical preparations, where it supports the reduction of sugar content without losing sweetness.
